The Importance of Professional Tree Surgeon Accreditations

Professional tree surgeon accreditations provide independent assurance that tree work is carried out safely, competently, and in line with recognised industry standards. They demonstrate a commitment to best practice, ongoing training, and regulatory compliance, giving clients confidence that all tree surgery work is undertaken by qualified and responsible professionals.

We hold recognised professional accreditations that demonstrate our commitment to high standards of workmanship, safety and best practice within the tree surgery industry. These accreditations confirm that our work is carried out in line with current industry guidance and independently assessed standards.

Why are professional accreditations important in Tree Surgery and Arboriculture?

The arboricultural industry is not regulated by government and has a high accident potential.

We understand the importance of caring for the UK's rich tree heritage and have undergone extensive training to ensure our tree surgeons and arborists are fully qualified to carry out tree and hedge services to our residential and commercial clients.

The Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor scheme has been setting the standards for tree surgery work for more than 40 years.

Arbor Division Ltd gained accreditations with the Arboricultural Association in 2012.

As an ARB Approved Contractor (ARBAC) Arbor Division Ltd has met and continues to uphold the Arboricultural Association's Standards, the only comprehensive accreditation scheme for Tree Surgery businesses in the UK.

We are regularly reviewed to ensure that we reflect contemporary arboricultural research findings, legislative and health and safety requirements, business practices and customer expectations.

The Arboricultural Association requires that Approved Contractors within this directory must hold insurances to levels appropriate to liabilities that their work may generate.

Before entering into any contractural agreement clients should satisfy themselves that appropriate insurance is in place by asking for evidence from the contractor and/or their broker.

Independent Assessment Against Recognised Industry Standards

ARB Approved Contractor status involves independent assessment of working practices, safety systems, and quality standards. This provides assurance that tree surgery work is delivered in line with nationally recognised arboricultural and operational benchmarks.

Demonstrated Compliance with Legislation and Industry Guidance

ARB Approved Contractors are required to demonstrate compliance with current health and safety legislation, environmental responsibilities, and arboricultural best practice. This includes alignment with relevant British Standards and guidance issued by the Arboricultural Association.

Verified Competence and Ongoing Professional Development

Approval as an ARB Approved Contractor requires evidence of staff competence, qualifications, and ongoing training. This ensures that arborists maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills, reflecting current techniques, equipment, and regulatory requirements.

Robust Safety Management and Risk Control Procedures

ARB Approved Contractors operate documented health and safety management systems, including site-specific risk assessments and method statements. These systems help manage risk effectively and protect operatives, clients, and the public during tree surgery operations.

Increased Confidence for Clients and Contracting Authorities

ARB Approved Contractor status provides confidence to domestic clients, commercial organisations, and local authorities that tree work is undertaken by a professionally assessed and accountable contractor. It offers reassurance that standards are consistently monitored and maintained.

Our ARB Approved Contractor status reflects our commitment to professional standards, safe working practices, and responsible arboricultural management.
