Crown lifting involves removing the lower branches of the tree. Often this is required when low branches are overhanging public pathways or roads and causing obstruction.
Crown thinning reduces the density of the crown without altering the overall shape of the tree. As well as reducing branch weight it reduces wind loading upon the limbs of the tree which helps reduce damage by heavy winds and storms.
